The heroes of several alternate universes failed to save the multiverse. As a result, Doctor Doom recreated the Beyonder’s Battleworld in an effort to save himself. It doesn't hurt the he's also set himself up as GOD with his own set of minions and made a decree that to question his authority is an act of blasphemy. In this supplement to 2015’s Secret Wars, Captain Marvel has been made the leader of the Carol Corps, an elite team of female fighter pilots who defend Doom's main territory of Hala Field from neighboring Hydra forces. When a near invasion is repelled with the help of the Thor Corps, a sort of Asgardian-powered special forces, Carol learns that one of the Thors’ hammer was forged from a fallen star. Only under Doom's doctrine, there's supposed to exist nothing past the atmospheric barrier erected around the Battleworld. This revelation will put the Carol Corps on a collision course with the wraith of Doom as more events uncover a conspiracy that could shatter the façade of paradise crafted by Doom himself. Carol Corps was a pleasure to read. It's my first official foray into the most recent Secret Wars. You don't have to read that series to enjoy this mini- but it helps! I have a lot of questions like why would Doom create a territory for himself so close to enemy forces? The important thing I took from this book was that A) Secret Wars is enjoyable and B) thanks to reading lists at the beginning and end of this book, I now know everything I need to read and collect for the entire storyline. In other words, Secret Wars is going on my wish list.A marvelous effort by Captain Marvel regular series writer Kelly Sue DeConnick with help by Kelly Thompson(Heart in a Box) and as always, more dynamic art by Capt. artist, David Lopez!

Atten-Hut! These ladies are the best of the best and will take you down if you threaten their Captain. Welcome to Hala Field, where being a part of the elite Carol Corps, requires guts, guile and a whole lot of grit. So put on your uniform and get ready for a high-fl ying Captain Marvel tale years in the making.it's captain marvel now believing that she got her powers from the almighty doom she leads the banshee squadron and on a routine mission to stop a trespassing ultron fleet that when they take it down it is revealed to be a ship fleeing from another land in search of safe haven the carol corps decide to rescue him and now question everything that their lord doom tells them

Kelly DeConnick's run on Captain Marvel ends on a whimper. The book has some decent action and is certainly a brisk read. The idea of Carol Danvers leading an all-female crew of pilots is interesting but the realization is off. With so many characters in the Carol Corps, it's hard to really get a feel for any of them.Ultimately, the action bits as well as battling the army of flying Thors are the highlight of the book. The book also throws in Issue 17 of Captain Marvel's 2012 run. The issue is still good, but the idea of a libertarian villain just hasn't aged particularly well. Still, it's a sweet story.Overall, the book is okay but not really a must-read

Of course Captain Marvel would be my first Secret Wars tie-in and I was pretty pleased with it. I knew the background of the Secret Wars event so I didn't feel lost, but I do think things could have been fleshed out a little more. I really liked Carol here and all of her Banshees, plus the Rhodey cameo was cool, but I just wanted more story. I know this was just a little side jaunt from the "real" story, but I love Carol and really want to see good stories given to her.

Solid if unnecessary story set in the Secret Wars books. It's by the regular creative team from Captain Marvel. It's really only a 4 issue story with a terrible one issue filler story in the back with some of the worst art I've ever laid my eyes on.

Not great. A shadow story from Secret Wars that has no real relevance in the New Marvel Universe

This just wasn't interesting to me at all. I made it one issue in and I was bored out of my skull. This just seems like another Secret Wars story that just didn't need to be written. You can skip this one.
