I bought this book without even looking up its contents (do I like Latin!). To my happy surprise, the titles are just fantastic, and so are their scores. If you are an intermediate player and have any love of Afro Blue (a full 6 pages), Manha De Carnaval, or Summer Samba, you will definitely enjoy this set of scores. This is NOT a fake book rendition! Like most Hal Leonard compilations, this book has a few misses, but mostly hits with nice danceable rhythms. The selection of songs is generally very good, and the arrangements are clever and fun to play. These are jazzy arrangements of latin hits from the '30s to the '60s. Some of the arrangements are challenging, but the best of them really capture the feel of good latin jazz from those decades.
Have acquired about a dozen of these books in the Jazz Piano series and really enjoy all of them so far! Not being an improviser, I love having the jazz riffs "spelled out" for me so that I can actually read them! What a treat! My only regret is that the arrangers are not acknowledged. Why Not?
Great tunes. Great arrangements. It's just right for my level of playing...not easy, but not impossibly detailed. Love the rich chords and fun rhythms.

It just doesn't seem to be up to the standards of the others in the series.
I was looking for REAL latin jazz.The arrangements are just OK and the songs are all old songs in a latin type arrangement. There are a lot of bossa novas too.I should have seen looked over the songs and determined it wasn't right for me. Of course I didn't know a lot of them until I played them and then I said, "Oh this old song,"
