This catalog is so funny. So, so, so funny. I bought the original SkyMaul and figured the Kaspar Hauser guys were doing the old "Sequel Switcheroo" where they phone it in for the second one. But they didn't phone it in. They personally hand delivered it. And they wore white gloves. And it was on a platter - a silver one, possibly platinum or even whatever metal the second Terminator guy was made of.What I'm saying is they did a good job delivering the product.I would give this book to anyone I liked if I wanted to make them laugh. If there was someone I liked who I wanted to be sad, I wouldn't give it to that person.Seriously, though. This is hilarious.

You will laugh that kind of laugh where you feel embarrassed if anyone saw you laugh like that. Ugly, undulating, contorted slobber-laughing. The last half isn't quite as strong as the first, but maybe it is? Maybe the second half is actually SUPER FUNNY but the first half is just like SO SUPERCHARGED TURBOFUNNY that you can't tell? You aren't aware that you're actually punishing yourself by not having this, but you are.

A very fun read.You've seen these pretentious catalogs whenever you've had the pleasure of eating a handful of pretzels and a sip of soda while travelling in a flying cattle car. Quite the humorous take.

Very funny! Wanted to buy the the first in the series, but it was unavailable. this book is quite imaginative and really hilarious. But remember, a little hilarity goes a long way.

Sigh. Not nearly as funny as it could be. Bought it as a gift, and actually never gave it, as some of the stuff is pretty lame. There are some clever gems in here, but some or lame, or just too crude - even for me.

I am on my own journey that was sparked a while back, but fanned into a flame by my TF. As such, I am primarily looking exactly how to align with myself, as Elle words it, or as the "guru's" she refers to call it, loving yourself and healing your core wounds.There was some great information, and I love the quotes before each chapter. As for constructive criticism, the tone is a bit salesmanish. A lot of loaded, charged statements. She referred to the "only true" person who really knew this stuff as her mentor, but I either missed, or the information as to WHO that mentor is, or, other than her opinion, how this conclusion is valid. Additionally, breaking up her paragraphs into sentences is choppy at best. It distracted me, as I thought I was transitioning to a different thought, I realized the next paragraph (one or two sentences) should be joined with the surrounding sentences to complete a whole thought. In some instances, they could have been joined as one sentence if done properly.My last issue is that the book itself creates a paradox really. The book says nothing you know about twin flames is true, then goes on to discount every person working towards twin flames but her no longer practicing former mentor without a name, as frauds. The ironic part is, Elle discussed how using words limit you, create boundaries, and constrict you, but she fails to realize that words are open to interpretation, and by limiting herself to particular explanations, fails to see that what others have said, that she says is incorrect, is exactly what she goes on to say is correct. For example. She says that there are no lessons to learn, wounds to heal, karma in this process, just soul alignment. To not think about it, it's not mind work, it is soul work. Every other "guru" I have learned from says that yes, it IS about alignment with yourself, and alignment is done through self love, acceptance, ridding yourself of limiting boundaries that block your ability TO unconditionally love yourself. You cannot do that unless you go into your head, heart, soul, etc, to FIND what false limiting beliefs you have to begin with... failing to realize that the ego's limiting nature, prevented her from realizing she was saying the exact same thing, canned, as everyone else, but claiming she wasn't, while injecting negativity onto others and the collective.She also said there is no runner/chaser but continually referred to it as polar energies and magnets. Does anyone else remember playing with 2 magnets on a table in grade school, and make them "chase" each other? Not only that, it is BECAUSE magnets are opposite that they ATTRACT. Two LIKE energies repel. Not two opposite energies. Which is why your twin flame is involved mirroring you, and has the exact same issues, and they heal as you heal. Perfecting and balancing the masculine and feminine energies, not blending them to neutral.I definitely applaud Elle's "real" style which seems authentically her true self, and her passion is very evident as well, which provides her with great future potential. Unfortunately as a whole, between loaded statements, structure, and the paradoxes she creates it really negates her original intent to write and publish, unless it was merely too hook you to buy her next book. This book just left me laughing, like she claimed as she mocked others through out it. But, I wish her the best on her journey and hope these reflections assist in her own growth.

While there may be some useful information in what resembles a book, the large print and so few pages felt like a total rip-off for $18. Anticipating arrival, I was ready to hunker down with a good 'book', not a ten minute read that easily could have been an article of sorts. Sorry, Elle, but your marketing is less than desirable and while I will likely read again as you suggest, I feel very let down with the purchase of your 'book'.

I've read lots of twin flames books, browsing internet about it but my scientific and rational mind can not accept the idea of twin flame origination in the first place (by an "angry God" that split each soul into 2 parts!!!). However, I gave it a chance by reading this short book and ah hah finally it makes sense for everything I doubt. Thank you sincerely for shedding light on this topic. If you're interested in Twin Flame and finding yours own, this is a MUST read for you!

A little disappointed with the book. Not what I expected.

This book helped me through a rough break up. Twin Flame or not, Elle's books have taught me how to balance my energy and find happiness within. I highly recommend this book to anyone going through a rough time.

This is good read for after a bad break up. If I learned anything from this book, it’s to love yourself & be present. It does go into a little more detail with the twin flames myths, but overall it was good for 77 pages.

Even with font much larger than many children's books, still only comes to 74 pages, not 86 as advertised. See attached image of a single page with a quarter for scale.

The information in this book is invaluable. There is some use of dramatic language in the text... I believe the author uses this to gain the readers full attention. It works!

One of the greatest travel stories ever written. One of my favorite books of all time. Better than most fiction of this type. Poignant, fascinating, absorbing. I was sad that it ended. I look forward to reading it again in a couple of years.

I found this book absolutely fascinating as it described a time, only 70-odd years ago, when there truly were unexplored reaches, where legend and history still co-existed, and where a culturally sensitive and aware, and properly respectful traveler could find peaceful and fulfilling adventure. This book is even more interesting now, given the changes in the Middle East in the past ten years. Can one imagine making the same kind of journey in Yemen now? Of course not; it would almost be suicide. That time has long since been destroyed, everything about this book but its pure physical setting gone, so this memoir is even more poignant and compelling.Stark has an eye for detail, as jaundiced as it is with the unavoidable Orientalism of her time and socio-cultural context. This can be forgiven/overlooked, and she's a lot more fair and obliging when describing those she encounters than the majority of her contemporaries. She's at her best when describing the landscapes she is encountering, the stark desert and wadis, the unexpected lushness of the oases and tucked-away mountain crevices where all the shades of green burst forth.More than anything, what comes through in this book is Stark's grace and abiding respect for the people she meets. She has taken the time to learn their language, and is familiar with their culture, and takes pains to encounter them in terms that will make them comfortable. She does not attempt to bend anyone to a Western European point of view. This is not to say she is subservient or fawning; she most certainly stands up for herself when it is required. But throughout the book and on this journey, her continued success comes from her honesty tinged with her respect for the region and the people with whom she is interacting. This engenders respect for her in return.I found the three maps in the beginning of the book at first absolutely invaluable as references to Stark's locations and progress. I then found the maps to be absolutely infuriating, due to their black/white printing, the too-small script, the confusing order of the maps, the contradictory scales and place-name differences, etc. I ended up abandoning the book's maps and opening my unabridged atlas to Yemen and tracking her movement there. Editors: if you're going to offer maps in a book like this, make sure the maps are actually worthwhile and readable.Two scholarly additions to the book are good. Stark's appendix on the "Southern Incense Route of Arabia" is a fascinating account of exactly what she was looking for, and what brought her to the Hadramaut in the first place. It's her indirect formal scholarly statement of motivation. This appendix would have been well-placed as a foreword to this book, serving to establish her motivation and objective. Stark lists her sources, and they're offered as a listed bibliography immediately after the appendix. There is also an index, but for whatever reason, many of the persons and places in the text are not included, and there is no cross-referencing. For example, the names of individual wadis are placed in the index as "Sidun, Wadi," and are not cross-referenced with a "Wadi Sidun" entry.Bottom line: If you're one of the many readers newly interested in Islam, Arabs and the Middle East, and are looking for some context beyond the latest book on extremism or terrorism, something to add depth to what you think you understand, then this book will do you well. If you're looking for some insight into the cultures and traditions of Islam, this also will move you in that direction. If you're looking for a glimpse into a time when the West and Islam actually got along on a basis of mutual respect, this enjoyable book will tell you about it.

I found this book very interesting having recently visited Dubai. It gives an insight into the world of Arabia before it was spoilt by oil.I was impressed by the bravery of Freya Stark for venturing into this fairly unknown part of the world and am grateful to her for the knowledge.I am planning to buy another of her books

This was so interesting. A wonderful story about a little known area of the world. The fact that this was a personal journey made it even more interesting.

It arrived in time ...but folded at the edge as u see in the photo .. Am eager to read the book for it is about the government I live in ..Kingdom of Hudramaut ...

As a big fan of Thesiger and Villiers, I've been a little spoiled when it comes to Arabian travel writings. In contrast I found Freya Stark's writing style and journey incredibly boring. Her descriptions of events and people are uniformly vague and shallow. This is especially frustrating when she just glosses over some event or custom that I would have loved to know more about. For example, she mentions the fact that many of the Bedu she meets are dyed indigo to protect themselves from the sun, but never goes into detail about what to me is a very fascinating and little known practice. I haven't been able to find information about Beduin, or any other people, dying their bodies indigo in any other source so I was a big frustrated by this lack of depth. I guess its important to remember that Freya Stark's works are mostly just diaries, they weren't meant to be published as anthropological works, and so might not be very interesting to anyone but herself!!

Freya is limited with details, introspection, and understanding of the people she visited. She had bureaucratic connections that paved the way for her, and traveled in rather "grande dame' style, considering the areas and era of her travels. She does speak Arabic, but doesn't seem to empathize with people she meets.

The title of this book is accurate... you're a dummy if you buy it. The authors must be paid by the word because there are lots and lots of unnecessary words in the text, including much superfluous bleating about how great the Ipad is. As far as concise instructions and explanations go, you'll have to look elsewhere for that. Just one of many examples: the Ipad is supposed to automatically connect to your WiFi router, and you don't need a book for that. If there are problems connecting, look on p. 270. It says you'll encounter a "bunch of nasty-sounding terms: DCHP, BootP..." etc etc etc. But instead of digging out the information and defining these nasty-sounding terms and telling the reader how to use them, the authors glibly inform us we'll "probably" never have to use this stuff, and if we do, summon a network administrator or techie friend. The whole book is that way. Save your money.

I received a new iPad as a gift and was at first excited. I'm sure those proficient in 'Apple-ease' found it a smooth transition. I am not familiar with the Apple systems and this book takes it for granted that I spend 30% of my income keeping up with the newest version. The book was not helpful at all for me. You may hiss and boo but as a greenhorn I wasted my money on a usually good series of tutorial books. I need the 'dumbest dummies' version and am sorry for my tech-illiteracy but the title is misleading, to be brief. Why the company cannot produce a users' manual that is realistic and applicable to the task at hand; namely, a user's manual.

This book made it possible to set up my IPad in a very short time, since I didn't buy it at an Apple store where they do that for you. It's dead-on with advice about apps, options, and things to avoid doing that can get a novice "stuck", since the IPad isn't as user-friendly as advertised. Like many of the other "Dummies" books like the one for Windows 7 and IPods, it's essential for ordinary people who aren't particularly adept at technology.

This is the perfect companion to your iPad if you've never had one. It goes over all features, and plainly explains how to use them, as well as providing tips and suggestions of possible uses for the apps. I bought y iPad basically to have internet when I travel, but knew it had to do more than just that for the cost. This book really lets you know how many useful features and uses your iPad has.

I bought this book for my mother who is 76 and had just gotten an ipad. It's written in easy to understand verbiage for someone who isn't as up-to-date on all the new electronic "toys" out there. I liked that it had pictures of the buttons it references which made it much easier to follow than the iPad user's manual (no surprise there!). Also, the book itself isn't a huge tome which makes it easier to pick up and read - a good thing for someone with limited body strength. All in all, I am extremely happy with this purchase.......more important my mother said it was great and she'll definitely use it!

As a previous reviewer wrote when I was deciding whether to purchase this book, the first chapters are very elementary and basic. Anyone who has used an iPad or computer will not need that information. There are many tips that are helpful, though and since my iPad did not come with an instruction manual, I have learned a great deal from purchasing and reading this book.

The baby boomers didn't have computers when they were children. But their children had the beginning of the computer craze, and their grandchildren now have iPads. In order to be able to use iPads with grandchildren, the grandparents need a guide to interpret this what to them is like a foreign language. iPad for Seniors is just the right book for us older folk, me included. It is in large print for easier reading. It starts off with introducing you to iPad features, especially using the Home screen. Then it shows you how to connect to the Internet, email your Grandkids, shop for media and apps. It shows you how to make video calls and instant message. Soon what seems impossible is now fun: the Newsstand app has your favorite magazines, and you can hear music (the sound can be turned higher for the hearing impaired), see videos, get apps you like. And the iPad will help you stay organized with its reminders & notifications. There are maps, iBooks, how to use iCloud help, even troubleshooting tips. I think the best is the "let your iPad find itself" for people, like me, who misplace items. Grandmas & grandpas, this is the iPad "life alert" book.

This is an upbeat, fun book, full of practical wisdom and good advice. In fact, I've given two copies to high school seniors, who I think will find Kari's optimistic view of life and opportunities to be a help as they confront the next stage of their lives. (As she puts it: going from "crash test girl" to "road-tested woman"). I should disclose that Kari was a high school classmate of one of our daughters; in fact, I first found out about the book a few months ago when Kari and other members of their group convened at our house for one of their yearly get-togethers. The fact that these school friends still re-unite 25 years later and still like each other says a lot about their characters. It's fun and gratifying as a parent to observe the various paths they have followed. Kari's is certainly one of the more unusual, and it's really delightful that she has been able to put some of her wit and charm into book form for the benefit of all of us. Highly recommended.

This is a great read with lots of life lessons plus some very interesting insights to MythBusters, the tv program that Kari worked on for so many years. After finishing her book, I realized she is an amazing woman in so many respects. With no technical background (she's an artist), she educated herself in science and engineering to keep up with the others on that show, far exceeding what might have been expected of her. She is a great role model, especially for young women. In her book, she provides prodigious advice about coping with the trials of life and love and I believe every youngster, especially the young ladies, should receive it as a gift from their parents, grandparents, or friends. Science teachers should also take note and recommend it to their students. I hope this is just the start of Kari's literary career. She has some important things to say!

Byron is, as one would hope, a far more interesting person than the glimpses we got over the years in Mythbusters. She is complex, chaotic, and in her own way, glorious. As much about self-help and finding a way as it is a biography, the book is chaotic, honest, and doesn't pull its punches.If you loved MB, and its cast, you'll appreciate the book, the plethora of behind the scenes stories and moments, and Kari's remarkably gung-ho life.I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was enjoyable and Kari is very honest about herself, but she doesn't talk much about her fellow Mythbuster cast. I would like to have known more about her interactions with Grant, Tori, Jamie and Adam. You can see that she is a nice person as she doesn't want to say anything bad about anyone, but that kindness of hers kind of makes you feel like a lot of things are purposefully left out of the book.

No complainants here, this book is well written but above all the heart put into is admirable and truly apprciate. If you feel the need to be full heartily inspired, give this book a go. Thank you Kari

I loved this book. I am a huge fan of mythbusters but also a fan of origin stories and Kari's origin story is more than boring, it is the tale from 0 to kick ass. And one that everyone must read. It is a book that will inspire young women to get out there and not only create but be adventurous.

Kari has crushed it with this, her first book. It is nothing less than inspiring. Kari talks about how she unwittingly used the scientific method to deal with life’s challenges.Kari is brutally honest about her trials and tribulations. Along the way she gives some great advice. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Enjoyable book. It was a fun read. Her life was fascinating. One thing to note. It's obvious what Kari's politics are, but unlike many other "Hollywood" types she doesn't insult or berate those who don't believe the same things she does.
