It's tough to find suitable books for a younger kid who reads at a high level - books tend to get all boyfriend/girlfriend-y or just themes that are way way too dark (think end of 4th Harry Potter book and onward). This series definitely does have some killing, but it's not crazy horrible or super evil, and it revolves around the twin relationship, not any sort of girlfriend/boyfriend stuff. I also liked that the author explained the 'factual basis' at the end of the first book. I've enjoyed it as much as my nine year old has, and I don't feel bad about letting him read it. (He's still begging me to read Harry Potter 5-7, but he's at least mildly appeased for the moment... :)

My sons - ages 8 and 10 when they read these books - loved these books. This set was purchased as a gift for another child who loves to read because my kids wouldn't let go of their copies.My kids tell me that these books had wonderful plots and were written in a way that held their interestSummary from my kids: There are a pair of twins who are the most powerful people ever. One is destined to save the world and the other is destined to destroy an ancient world - the "bad" world. Nicholas Flamel and his wife are looking for these twins their entire life and are guarding the codex which has the knowledge to destroy the world or save the world. Magic, sorcery are the main themes. Appropriate for kids above age 9 or 10 in general, possibly younger if they are good readers. Excellent tween level writing. Certainly gripping for my kids.This is just the first part of the series - there is another set of three books that follow.Highly recommended.

After reading one of the other reviews, I decided to give this trilogy a try and got them for my iPad. Took them along on a trip to the Bahamas and found myself riveted by the narrative. I was a huge Harry Potter fan, read all the books three times and was hoping for something as much fun. Scott grabs you from the start and keeps you on a series of cliff hangers so that you can't wait to find out what is going to happen.I love that various mythological characters are brought in and differences in various types of magic are referred to and explained. I am 87% though the last, The Sorceress, and am already looking to find out what other books by Michael Scott that I can get. I am happy to see that the series continues and plan to read as far as he goes.If you enjoy fantasy and adventure, these are the books for you.

The books themselves are great, I love series. My only problem is that there is a set of the first three books, but not a set of the last three books (as there are six books). Why? Not only is it more convenient for the reader, but it's more money for the author.

When I first read these first three books, I admit to some initial disapointment. Mostly because without giving too much away the book is detailing what happens in a very short space of time. It's practically but not quite like the old show 24 hours which showed only one hour out of a day per week as the season went by to keep the people who watched it all the time on the edge of their seats. I wasn't one of those who watched it beyond the first episode because though it was action packed, the slowness was daunting to me. I felt the same way at the pace of this book. But I am a lover of history, mythology, and legends! So every time we were introduced to another character from one of those areas I was tickled with excitement. I relished that more than the action. And even a bit more than the action and magic! I wasn't impressed with the 'twins of legend'. And I came to realize it was my own wish prejudices and wish to get back to see what the myths, historical figures, and legends were doing. So I tried to relax my attitude open them. I read the entire series out of a curiousity to see where this story was going and my love of seeing these historical figure, mythical entities, and legends come to life in the pages of my kindle fire! And I have to tell you that my patience paid off. The story is being founded here but really gets 'good' in the last two books. If you have the patience to stay with it because you have the interest or curiousity or love of a character--perhaps the twins even!--then the story is exceptionally worth starting and fulfilling. You just have to know that you have to be in it for the long haul. But lucky for you and and I the series is completed and we're not waiting for the writer to complete the series. You just need to purchase it when you can. That is another thing I found out when reading this, this is a story that is easiest read all in one long stride together to keep the thread of what of is going on together. I've only read the story completely through once, including these stories. I will read these again to pick up the nuggets I missed as I contemplated to stop reading this story altogether! But I am TRULY grateful I didn't because then I wouldn't have begun a wonderful series that reminded me a bit like Lord of the Rings with pace and if not the wordiness. But believe me once you get over the hump it this is a totally worth it story if you can stick with it. I found it to be incredibly rewarding and worth it at the end. A journery definitely worth taking with Sophie and Josh Newman!

I found this book to very clearly written and easily understood. The instructions are easy to follow. I liked how the author placed tips throughout the book for those times that it might not be coming out the way you planned. I have never worked with polymer clay before, and decided I needed some fun activities to do with kids, so I decided to get this book and try to make these charms. Not only was I able to make these charms, but the kids loved the activity. This book is easy enough to follow for young children to make their own charms. Even if you are a newbie to the art of working with clay, you will be able to make these cute little clay polymer popsicles and ice cream. These charms can be made as gifts for holidays or birthdays. I would recommend this book, not only to parents, but to professionals working with young children, and looking for cute activities to do that are fun. I work with children with autism, and they were able to follow the directions and make cute charms, and they loved doing it.

I never thought I could make Popsicle magnets, but this book describes how you can easy create one. Note these are not the ones you eat. Anyway, if you want to learn how to make Popsicle decorations, or even ice cream cone ones, this book describes in detail how to do it with a step by step guide, including pictures. It even shows you how to assemble onto magnets, pins, or clips. Very good book if you want something fun to do with your kids.

This is another fun little book from Gitit Eyal, who also wrote "Cookies in Your Hair." While the other book gives you instructions on how to make cool little cookie sculptures out of clay, this one shows you how to make ice cream sculptures. With the summer vacation about to begin, this is the perfect way to spend a day with the kids. They will love creating the sculptures, and they will love the different ice cream and popsicle patterns they can experiment with. Just make sure they don't try to eat them when they're finished, because they will look delicious!

Cute Polymer Clay Popsicles & Ice Cream: Polymer Clay Kawaii Food is okay. There was nothing in it that I have not seen in any other book. The sample did not give me material that I needed to decide if I should purchase it or not. I did purchase it and was disappointed that there was not something that I didn't already know. It was translated and there are grammar errors. If you are looking for a easy project and you have never worked with clay this book is for you.

As a mother to two young girls, learning how to make tiny little cute things like this has become a necessity. I bought this little instructional book on how to make tiny clay ice cream treats and popcicles (even how to make the sticks look perfectly real!) as my first real attempt at making anything like little fimo figurines. This book was a great starter for me! Simple to read, fun, easy to follow and understand. The photos that show you what each step looks like are also a huge help when learning. It was nice to have this on my kindle next to us on the table as we got working too. Very great little project!

I've read a previous book by this author and was very happy to discover that she has made another book with such interesting ideas. It looks so easy to make and the ideas are just great. I'm sure the kids will love it!

My 9 year old daughter had a sleepover this weekend. Both girls loved making the ice cream sculptures almost as much as they loved eating ice cream. Great job and thanks for the fun weekend.

This book is a repetitive advertisement for IOA. I was hoping for a fresh look at an old industry, something different to bring to the table. This isn’t a book about ground breaking ideas, innovation, or thinking differently. It’s a value proposition for IOA and nothing more. The author goes so far as to say of success at IOA “there is no particular type or stereotype that works better than another”. Really? In the next paragraph the seemingly bold stance is dialed back and then some with “certain attributes are necessary in order to thrive”. I don’t write many reviews, but after suffering through this book, I feel compelled to say this: save your money.

Bruce does and excellent job of engaging the reader with an interesting approach to the insurance industry. While insurance is not the most captivating subject, Bruce makes the subject both interesting and very readable. Great resource for those interested a career in the insurance industry.

All retail producers should read this book.The author’s bias toward IOA is clear, but there’s no question their culture and proven business model can be far superior to the traditional corporate agency model for a salesperson with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong work ethic.Having retired from the agency business after 23 years as an independent agent, I wish this business model had been around back then.

Bruce does a great job explaining the IOA culture from his experience and multiple other producers that have made the move to join IOA. If you are thinking about starting a career as an insurance agent, or you currently are a producer thinking about making an agency switch, this is a must read.

We enjoyed this Haggadah ! It was the best new one that ALL shared equally !

This is the third year I have used this Haggadah for my Passover Seder. At my table, there are Jews as well as non Jews celebrating together. This Haggadah allows everyone to participate without feeling uncomfortable and keeps the Seder to a reasonable time without the children and adults becoming restless.
