If you want to experience the joys of Christian living, I highly encourage you to read this book. Tozer’s goal of this book was to aid God’s hungry children so to find Him (via preface of book). Here are some of the things I love about this book:1. “The impulse to pursue God originates with God, but the outworking of that impulse is our following hard after Him.” Tozer explains the paradox of the importance of pursuing God. Even though as Christians we are going to heaven and we experience God’s unchanging love, there are still privileges of continuing to dive into God. God is looking for people He can lavish His blessings on, and those people are the ones who are diving into their relationship with Him.2. “Self is the opaque veil that hides the face of God from us.” Jesus’ death on the cross removed the veil that was hinder us from coming to God. There is nothing on God’s end keeping us from experiencing the presence of God. And yet, most of us do not experience God personally or experientially in life. We keep ourselves from God.3. “To most people God is an inference, not a reality. He is a deduction from evidence which they consider adequate, but He remains personally unknown to the individual.” If God is real, then He must be relevant to our lives.4. “It is the nature of God to speak, to communicate his thoughts to others.” God is not silent. God did not forget how to talk when the Bible was finished. He sees that plans He has for your life and wants to lead you into them.5. “Jesus taught that His power lay in His continual look at God” (John 5:19-21). This is still a kind of radical thought for me, but Jesus did nothing on earth out of His Godhead. Everything He did is something we can do through the power of the Holy Spirit. The key is to continually gaze at Jesus.6. “One of the greatest hindrances to internal peace which the Christian encounters is the common habit of dividing our lives into two areas – the sacred and the secular.” Whatever we do we should do it all for the Lord. would highly recommend the Pursuit of God to anyone wanting to go deeper with God. I am sure if you read it you will get something different than what I laid out above, but I believe whatever you get would greatly help your relationship with Jesus.

This may be the most convicting book I've ever read. I do not include the Bible in the books I've read. It is the inspired Word of God and therefore in a class of it's own. A. W. Tozer impresses me as a theologian for the masses. His insights are deep but his style is straightforward and easy to understand. I will not attempt to do a point by point review. I'll just say that if we, professing Christians, will honestly consider the points he makes we will come to a better understanding of what prevents us from having the intimate relationship with our Creator that He clearly desires. The point Tozer makes about the veil that separates us from God is enough in itself to explain our problem. I intend to read it again taking notes and writing down his many statements that make for excellent quotes. The prayers he includes at the end of each chapter are worth writing down and including in ones regular prayer time.

God’s Pursuit of Man is A.W. Tozer’s extraordinary prequel to his more famously known Pursuit of God: The Human Thirst For the Divine. In this book he aims to explain what it truly means to know God, as well as to be fully known by Him. The author so masterfully explains that, though humans are commanded to seek God, their ability to do so is quintessentially rooted in His relentless pursuit of them. It is only when the individual humbly recognizes his or her dependence on the sovereign God that they are ultimately freed to rightly seek after the face of their creator. The book contains merely 10 chapters, all of which are so efficiently and eloquently written. Though his books are shorter in nature, they are by no means a short read. Tozer may possess the ability to say much with only a few words, but the topics which he chooses to compose on are still complicated by nature. I would encourage the reader to slow down when reading this book in order to properly consider the weighty topics about which Tozer writes. Gold becomes purified through an extensive refining process, and Tozer’s words are the same. Understanding the depths of his wisdom will take time and effort by the reader. From my own experience, it is quite worth it.When it comes to more surface level details, the book is up to snuff. It arrived at my house in perfect condition only two days after I made the purchase. The cover is made out of thick paper with an almost rubbery texture. Even though it is a small book, it has a very sturdy feel to it. The front cover displays the title and author very clearly for the reader to see, and the back cover contains a well-written summary from a prestigious publishing company, Moody Publishers.Overall, I am extremely impressed by this book! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to be challenged in their faith. Its timeless truths make it a book which can be easily turned to time and time again for guidance in life. I consider it to be the best purchase I have made on Amazon.com up until today.

She found the best coconut bread, lobster, fruit and conch fritters on every inhabited island.We sailed alongside SV Apsara for some of their adventures on SV Sassy Dancing. It was so much fun to revisit our ports of call and our shared experiences meeting people, eating delicious meals, imbibing in rum drinks and exploring beautiful locations. Thanks for chronicling a once-in-a-lifetime experience and sharing it!

I am writing this book review on my wife's computer as she ordered our books. Let me first say that I may slightly be bias in my review of this book because I have the pleasure of knowing David and Mary Butler. I tried to help them in their early inclination to become sailors again after many years of being sailboat less. I was initially concerned that their plan to go cruising right away might be just a little to ambitious..boy was i wrong. They found their boat, planned their trip and were gone post hast. Both David's and Mary's zest for adventure, new challenges aboard an unfirmiliar sailboat, and yen to lean was parlayed into a unique and exciting adventure. Their book is one of the best you could read as a novice cruiser or an experienced seaman. David's description of their journey was exhilarating and profound. His prose is wonderful and his poetry is easy and joyous. Mary's love of sailing aboard Apsara, enjoying wonderful cuisine, and just meeting new people makes you want to do the same. This book is a primer for anyone going to explore the Exumas. The nature, the isolation, the vistas, the seafood, and the history is all there.. Bob Fleege

I cannot put this book down!!!!! I can't wait to read the next paragraph. It is mesmerizing, exhilarating, & calming all at the same time!! It captures my imagination & takes me with you. Thank you for allowing me to experience this adventure through your writings & pictures.

I bought the book because of a sail charter in the Exumas, but did not find it all that helpful for that. It was a reasonable account of a life transition from normal shore based to s cruising life.

David and Mary Butler introduce readers to the joys of exploration, the discovery of new sea creatures and birds and the toil required to handle fierce winds and currents in navigating unknown waters in their Island Packet 38. Their narrative offers exotic foods like scorched conch salad recommended by Bahamian fishermen and ’soft tp the touch” Sopodilla fruit. Their gourmet provisions included a very singular aged John Wallinge’s Buena Vista Rum distilled in copper pot stils, filtered through coconut charcoal and aged in white oak barrels. Their transition from city to cabin life brought new experiences in navigating unknown cuts and anchorages. They were rewarded with pleasures of vermilion sunrises, blood-stained sunsets and ”rainbows over unspoiled deserted beaches”. The author displayed an intense love of nature, identifying exotic species of fish and birds. Their ordered life at sea involved careful planning of provisions and maintenance. Aspara could be identified by Mary’s bikinis waving like a version of Tibetan prayer flags. The Butlers describe their voyage as a lesson in how “to live simply and enjoy every moment”.

Get ready to be inspired by beautiful people who are determined to embrace life by keeping their eyes and hearts open, connecting with everyone they meet, and looking for pleasure in every moment. Love it.

She follows the name to a lawyer firm but the lawyer has since retired.Emily is in training with the search and rescue dogs. She spots her real mother, Marika near the woods and blames her for so much. The science lab catches on fire and the whole town comes together to figure out who started the fire.A SAR dog is sick with possible poisoning and a boy has gone missing and they need a dog to go search for him...The mother is now missing...The grandmother is able to use God and examples from the Bible to help her understand about forgiveness and trust in God.Love how all the clues lead to the solution to so many problems...I received this book from Thomas Nelson via Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

In the past, I have read many of Colleen Coble's books. I saw this one aimed at a younger crowd and decided to give it a shot. My daughter read it as well.Having read the Rock Harbor series, I was pleased to see many characters that I had read about in the past including Bree. She is the head of the Search and Rescue team in Rock Harbor and influences Emily, Naomi's stepdaughter. Since this book is aimed for the younger crowd, it made sense to make it about Emily and a great choice.Emily is 14 and loves to create jewelry. Since being rescued in the forest by Bree's dog, Samson, she has also been wanting to have a puppy of her own to train for SAR. She helps out Naomi from time to time and feels like she's ready. After her parents tell her she can have the puppy she desires once she has the money, she decides to sell some of her jewelry pieces at a festival. While watching a neighboring booth for a while, one of the lady's more expensive pieces goes missing and it seems like most everyone is ready to blame Emily. Even her own father doubts her innocence and forces her to hand over her puppy money to the lady.Poor Emily has so much to deal with. Her birth mother is due to get out of prison early, everyone thinks she is a thief, and her former best friend is being mean to her every chance she gets. Emily is determined to prove her innocence, but she only has limited time to get together the money before the puppy is scheduled to be sold. It's up to her and her best friend, Olivia, to find the true culprit.I think this was a good read and I enjoyed it. It had me guessing as to the motive and how Emily would be able to find the culprit and clear her name. It is listed as ages 8 and up, but as the mother of a 9 and almost 11-year-old, I would up that to at least 10 years old. I base that on the length and the depth of the writing. Overall, I was glad I read it and look forward to reading the next one, Rock Harbor Search and Rescue: Lost and Found, which is due out October 8. Good Book!My daughter's opinion: " I really liked this book. I was on the edge of my seat or area the whole time. I read it before my mom so HA! PEACE!"

This was a great follow up book to the adult Rock Harbor series by Colleen Coble. It was great to read about everyone's favorite rescue dog, Samson! This book though, was very much written for younger readers. I am pretty sure I am way over the age that this book was written for, but I still enjoyed it! This is the story of Emily and her best friend Olivia. Someone's expensive homemade necklace was stolen during the Rock Harbor Fall Festival, and it happened while Emily and Olivia were in charge. Emily is accused of stealing it and no one seems to believe she didn't do it so she decides to launch her own investigation. Meanwhile she is trying to save money to buy her own puppy, one of Samson's, who she hopes to train to be a search and rescue dog. This story kept my attention and I loved revisiting some of my favorite beloved Rock Harbor characters!

Colleen Coble weaves a new story about search and rescue dogs in the UP of Michigan. Emily O'Reilly, daighter of Naomi, longs for a dog of her own and helps her mother wHe her dog Charley is recruited to find a missing person. In her efforts to raise the money to purchase one of Bree Matthews puppies, Emily is accused of stealing a valuable necklace designed by a local Ojibwa native.Written for younger adults, I found the story intriguing and enjoyed catching up with favorite characters from a previous series. Coble knows her characters and helps readers grow to love them as much as she does.

What an interesting book written from a teenage point of view. I liked the fact that teenagers can get involved with rescue service using the help of special trained dogs. Everyone can learn to rely on the Master, Jesus Christ, to guide us in our daily lives no matter the job!Recommend that this book be read by teenagers...adults can enjoy it too!!

Haven't been disappointed with any of her books.

A most enjoyable and intriguing story. As usual, Coble has several story lines tied together as we turn the pages. I find myself sometimes having to remember God's Word in a situation I feel uncomfortable in.This book I gave a 4 1/2. This book will appeal to most readers.

I love Colleen Coble's books. I have read about 18. They are probably a little more romance than mystery, however the mysteries are still good. Sometimes she has at least one character who spends much to much time trying to tell someone something important. It can get a little weary, but over all I still love these books.

This is a perfect book for teens. I enjoyed it even though I'm way past my teen years. Emily learns more about responsibility than she ever wanted to and solves a mystery in the process. Her dream is to train a search and rescue dog. It was great.
