I'm very happy with this purchase. The book has bright fantastic colors and lots of stickers. It's not thick has about eight pages. Directions state you can use more than once. I'm not so sure on that but it has so many stickers all is well worth the price!

Purchased to cheer up my mother, who loves Winnie the Pooh. She uses them on letters and any mail she sends. Good selection and the stickers are nice

My daughter loves Pooh Bear and stickers! So this was a perfect combination for her. The book has places throughout where you have to match the sticker to it's shape. It was fun to help her find the stickers that went in the proper places. The stickers are removeable, but once we put them in the book we never took them out. She liked it, but it wasn't something she could continue to play with. Once it was done, then that was it. She still looks at it though.

My 2 year old loves his Cars Ultimate sticker book, which has fun activities (i.e. matching) and scenes he can put the stickers on. I bought a few other Disney sticker books, thinking they'd be similar. This one is not. It is simply a book of stickers. The only activity is to match the sticker to its shape on another page. Though the stickers are nice, it's just rather boring. I was expecting a lot more for the price.

This was a cute book with tons of stickers. They are not really reusable however my daughter loved finding the right places to put the stickers. Kept her entertained for hours.

I guess at $6.99 I wouldn't call it a rip-off, but it was a rip-off. There are only three'ish pages to put stickers on (depending on how you count them. 5 if you want to count a double page as 2.) The stickers are not sorted or marked to pages, so you have to take all the stickers out and look at all the pages as a universal group to try to do a single match. Fine for older kids, not for younger kids. But younger kids are the target audience of something like a sticker book, no? So absolutely no thought put into the book whatsoever.Not worth more than a buck or two. Not particularly reusable. At its best, doesn't occupy longer than 20 minutes, and, as I said, since the pages and stickers aren't correlated together, you'll have to supervise the entire project for the little ones, so it doesn't work as a project to keep little hands happy and busy while you do something else.

I would suggest readingPaschal Beverly Randolph: A Nineteenth-Century Black American Spiritualist, Rosicrucian, and Sex Magician (Suny Series in Western Esoteric Traditions)first, however; as you will get more out of it if you have a context to put it in.Enjoy!

The Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor was a fraternal order founded in the 19th century by the enigmatic Max Theon. People like Max Theon are usually described as 'enigmatic' or 'shadowy' and with good reason. But this book goes a long way toward shedding some light on Theon, Peter Davidson, Paschal Beverly Randolph, Emma Hardinge Britten, and others, all of whom had a great deal to do with the channeling of the American current of Magick. The research conducted by the authors' is truly impressive, although it simply left me hungry for more information. (Mr. Deveney has also written a marvelous biography of the mystic and seer, P.B. Randolph.) Read carefully, however, this book provides the background to the secret history of our times.

The Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor has become "en vogue" lately among certain circles of occultists and occult historians. This book, unlike others written by persons of questionable academic reputation, gives a complete and unbiased account of the HBL, its structure, system, and personalities.Complete and concise, contains several useful documents including sources for high degree OTO materials, this book is a must-have in the library of any serious occultist.

I was surprised by the rigor of this study, it's a valuable source book providing interested students of history with a background to the HBoL, it's movers and shakers, and the general occult demimonde milieu they occupied.Students of 19th century esoteric history will find it valuable. I recommend Rene Guenon's history of Theosophy along with it. While Guenon's intent was polemical, he assembled a good body of facts and observations that overlap heavily with the materials Godwin assembled here.This book is well recommended.

I chose a 3 star review because although they quite nicely outlined the summary of slither.io, the grammar.. Well, the grammar had more to be desired. The whole book is riddled with little or no punctuation, with mistakes in almost every sentence. It appears they didn't edit the book at all! If you are thinking of buying this book, it is NOT worth it. Find a better, more punctuated guide to read, as the grammatical errors take away from the flow of the book.

There are not just photographs of the trains themselves but also them working in their natural environments like the Forney Tank steam train on the elevated railroad in New York in 1896.The book is littered with facts on not just the trains, carriages and wagons but of the people who designed them and the railroads that they rode on. There is also an excellent chapter at the end of the book that goes into how tracks work, steam trains, electric trains, signals and a whole lot more. More than enough for a beginners guide to railways and trains.As an added bonus, the Smithsonian Guide also gives you not one but two large collectible prints that are of such a quality that I would have no problem framing and hanging them on my wall.I've got a couple of the other Smithsonian definitive guides (space and flight) and this is the best and most detailed one yet.Very highly recommended whether you enjoy trains or not.

My husband and I fell in love with DK (especially the Smithsonian line) during a trip to the Smithsonian museums. The books are filled with an immense amount of information which is presented in a fascinating, readable way. Of course the author couldn't include absolutely every single detail about the subject at hand, but they still did a wonderful job. The photos are gorgeous and a perfect complement to the information being presented. The books themselves have sturdy binding and stout construction.

This is an excellent book. Sturdy binding, heavy stock, and quality printing. I bought this DK volume The Smithsonian, Train: The Definitive Visual History and the DK volume The Train Book. Both are excellent with high quality hard bound covers with the EXACT SAME CONTENT. If you compare descriptions, you would not know. I kept both, and will gift one. The Smithsonian Train is completely printed and coated. The Train Book, while nicely printed and coated, has a white background of woven fabric. You choose.

My 3 year old absolutely loves this book! We had found this book at our library when he was still 2 and every time when we returned this book, he just kept asking me over and over if he could borrow it again so we finally purchased it!!!Thanks to amazon for $10 discount from prime day!Very detailed and absolutely beautiful inside!!!If you have little ones who have interests on trains and no matter how young they are, you should get it!!!

I bought this for my son who buys more and more train sets for his young son. He loves the book. It does say that it contains two collectible posters inside but we looked and looked and could not find them. Finally, after going through each page I looked inside the back hard cover. The posters were slipped inside there. Lovely posters. We had them framed with a red mount for my sons bedroom and they really look great!

ANY DK book is worth picking up. The pictures and layouts are spectacular. I would have liked to see this split into 2 volumes: Steam deserves it's own book. Could use more of a Global approach. I want to see more Military uses. What was Russia or China's evolution of these majestic beasts? Japan, India... Don'the get me wrong here - this is still a fantastic book. It goes well with Automobile and Motorcycle which I also possess.

Great book, very informative and the pictures are second to none. My grandson is a train nut, and this book fascinates him. He wants to read from it every night, and due to his young age we have to paraphrase the text, but after he goes to bed the adults keep reading for themselves. Priced right too, I would have expected to pay more for a book of this quality.

Finally!This book has so many things missing from children's literature. First, the main character, Miu Lan, is nonbinary: neither a boy nor a girl. Second, Miu Lan is clearly non-white. There are few depictions of trans* children of color in children's literature.Lastly, this book reads like a fairy tale picture book. It presents its message about gender calmly and age-appropriately, and teaches the reader to value people for who they are, not which box they fit in.

A perfect book. It doesn't exhort, doesn't preach. A gentle presentation of the value of all people. The artwork is also enchanting.

I really enjoyed that this book presents some real realities of being a gender fluid kiddo. My children were confused by the dress up parts, wondering if the main character was actually becoming animals or just playing dress up. I only gave it four stars because that narrative was difficult for my trans kiddo to relate to. We liked that the They pronouns were used, the illustrations are beautiful. The message is perfect! This would be an awesome book to read to a classroom of kiddos or at home with your own Cis gender and trans kiddos.

This is a truly delightful book. The story is enchanting and the illustrations are perfect. It's important to let children know that they can be a nonconformist without becoming a stereotype. It's a sad comment on our times that it has taken this long for a book like this to be produced. It's universal and relevant to us all.

This book is beautiful. The illustrations, the words, and the spirit of the book are all perfect. So are the conversations it started with our three year old. Her older sister and I have tried to explain gender neutral pronouns. She gets it and forgets. This visually cemented it for her. We are very grateful for this work of art.

I bought this as a gift for a friend’s baby when her mother said she wanted more LGBTQ+ books for the child’s library. When I first read it, I cried. The story is powerful, accessible, a positive message for all types of children, and uplifting. Stunning illustrations. I will be buying several more copies for all the kids in my life.

I sent this to my niece and my conservative brother/sister-in-law. Perfect book to give to any family about the unnecessary restrictions gender roles place on children.

This is a beautiful story for any child, but especially for gender queer children. The use of they/them pronouns was well done, the artwork is amazing, the story was lovely. I'm so happy to have found this book. It should be a part of every child's library.

Friedman's work is always provocative with a cautionary tone followed by an optimistic outlook. Although this as well as his previous books are somewhat dated (this one doesn't take into account the recent natural gas boom created by fracking), the general message remains as true and pertinent today as when it was written (since our politicians don't have the courage to overcome the lobbyists of the wealthy and enact these long term policies). The book really could be about 2/3 the length as Friedman does have a tendency to continue to hammer well established concepts over and over to emphasize his points but you can see this coming and skip ahead fairly easy. If you don't want to commit to the whole book you should at least read the story about First Solar in the latter part of the book. That says a lot about the power of the elite pulling us in the wrong direction.

By and large, the thesis of Thomas Friedman's new book, "Hot, Flat and Crowded" is correct. That is, the world is getting hotter, the world is getting "flatter" as globalisation erodes many of the differences between national economies and, of course, the world is becoming more crowded. We could argue the degree to which each of these phenomena is a problem but it is hard to argue that they are not occurring.Having set the scene, Friedman then launches into a solution which involves a greening of the world. And this should occur not just in the USA and other industrialised countries but must reach into China and the newly developing world. Again, hard to argue here. However, I feel that the means that he proposes this greening is somewhat wishy washy. Greening will require significant market reforms. The world will need a carbon tax at least; more likely, there will be a need to develop a full carbon trading system. But herein lies the problem. The US has already rejected "cap and trade". Not a great start. Here in Australia where this reviewer resides, there is a fierce debate at present as to the need for any intervention at all. The government seems to be losing popularity by the day as it pushes a market based agenda. This is a shame. Hard choices need to be made.In spite of my reservations, I enjoyed Friedman's book. He is a fine journalist at the top of his craft. His influence is significant and he has a loyal fan base. I only wish that he could be more hard headed. We are facing a serious challenge at the global level. This will require severe medicine. Friedman could have produced a better book by recognising this fact with greater determination.

I read and reviewed Friedman's earlier book "The World is Flat," which I enjoyed very much. I like "Hot, Flat and Crowded" even better.The thesis of the book is that the world has major challenges, as does the United States, and that it would be best for the United States, and for the world, if the United States played a primary role in figuring out how to deal with these challenges, which include, of course, global warming, excessive/inefficient use of sources of energy, deforestation, and problems with safe drinking water.America got off track under Reaganism, which taught us that government is generally wrong, while private enterprise is more likely right. But what we found out was that what was good for General Motors (short-term) was not always good for the United States. "George W. Bush came into office bound and determined not to ask the American people to do anything hard when it came to energy," says Friedman. And, quoting a poet: "The trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be." And, from Friedman: "Our young people are so much more idealistic than we deserve them to be."He warns us that we had "better understand this new era we're heading into." As for "crowded," he says that in 1800, the most populated city was London at one million. Today, there are more than 300 cities of one million or more. And, the world's current total population is about 6.5 billion, with a projection of about nine billion by 2050. As for "flat," the potential bad news is that more and more countries feel entitled to live the "American Dream," which may lead to an impossible demand for dwindling energy supplies. And, as for "hot," he tells us that global warming in for real, but that we humans continue to increase the amounts of carbon dioxide we are sending into the atmosphere.When flat successfully meets crowded, another part of the world moves toward for the "American Dream." "We invented that system. We exported it. Others are entitled to it every bit as much as we are," he says, adding "To tell people they cannot grow is to tell them they have to remain poor forever." As an example, China is on course to have 130 million cars by 2050. And, in India, there are already gated suburban communities with golf courses, big homes and all the other amenities.Currently, of course, Americans are by far the biggest energy hogs, consuming 9-to-30 times more energy than average folks in China or India now consume. And we are doing relatively little to curb our addiction to oil. We send hundreds of billions of dollars per year to Arab states for the stuff. Going green, per Freidman, "is now a national security imperative." And, per Friedman, Al Gore owes us an apology for his effort to alert the world about climate change and global warming. He underestimated the importance of his message.Today, says Friedman, we have three varieties of those who deny global warming: First, those who draw a paycheck from companies with a vested interest in the status-quo; second, a small group of scientists who really believe that global warming is not true; and, third, those who see the issue mainly in political terms, hating government intervention and controls more than any possibility of global warming being for real.So, where are we today? China is building another polluting coal-fired power plant every week. Forests are disappearing as we speak. Safe drinking water is a scarcity in many parts of the world. Twenty-five percent of the world's population has little access to electricity. And approximately 2.5 billion of the world's 6.5 billion people earn less than $2 per day.Per Friedman, "Our environmental savings account is empty....It is pay now, or there will be no later....In a flat world, everyone can see what everyone else is doing, and the harm it is causing."But there is hope. "The green economy is posed to be the mother of all markets," he says. "And the world is waiting for America to lead in this energy-climate issue." From the Japanese comes the Prius, which Friedman says" is not a better car. It's a better system." He adds, "We need many more people, companies, and universities trying many more things." We need "breakthrough innovation." But he says "real energy innovation is hard....We are not going to regulate our way out....we can only innovate our way out....We need 10,000 innovators, all collaborating with, and building upon, one another to produce all sorts of breakthroughs in abundant, clean, reliable, and cheap electrons and energy efficiency....Bottom line: America needs an energy technology bubble just like the information technology bubble." But Friedman knows that China is also a major player, saying "As China goes, so goes Mother Earth."Ending the book, Friedman calls himself a "sober optimist," saying that we are all "Pilgrims again." "But if we rise to the challenge....we, and the world, will not only survive, but thrive, in an age that is hot, flat and crowded."
