Even though as Christians we are going to heaven and we experience Godâ€™s unchanging love, there are still privileges of continuing to dive into God. God is looking for people He can lavish His blessings on, and those people are the ones who are diving into their relationship with Him.2. â€œSelf is the opaque veil that hides the face of God from us.â€ Jesusâ€™ death on the cross removed the veil that was hinder us from coming to God. There is nothing on Godâ€™s end keeping us from experiencing the presence of God. And yet, most of us do not experience God personally or experientially in life. We keep ourselves from God.3. â€œTo most people God is an inference, not a reality. He is a deduction from evidence which they consider adequate, but He remains personally unknown to the individual.â€ If God is real, then He must be relevant to our lives.4. â€œIt is the nature of God to speak, to communicate his thoughts to others.â€ God is not silent. God did not forget how to talk when the Bible was finished. He sees that plans He has for your life and wants to lead you into them.5. â€œJesus taught that His power lay in His continual look at Godâ€ (John 5:19-21). This is still a kind of radical thought for me, but Jesus did nothing on earth out of His Godhead. Everything He did is something we can do through the power of the Holy Spirit. The key is to continually gaze at Jesus.6. â€œOne of the greatest hindrances to internal peace which the Christian encounters is the common habit of dividing our lives into two areas â€“ the sacred and the secular.â€ Whatever we do we should do it all for the Lord. would highly recommend the Pursuit of God to anyone wanting to go deeper with God. I am sure if you read it you will get something different than what I laid out above, but I believe whatever you get would greatly help your relationship with Jesus.

This may be the most convicting book I've ever read. I do not include the Bible in the books I've read. It is the inspired Word of God and therefore in a class of it's own. A. W. Tozer impresses me as a theologian for the masses. His insights are deep but his style is straightforward and easy to understand. I will not attempt to do a point by point review. I'll just say that if we, professing Christians, will honestly consider the points he makes we will come to a better understanding of what prevents us from having the intimate relationship with our Creator that He clearly desires. The point Tozer makes about the veil that separates us from God is enough in itself to explain our problem. I intend to read it again taking notes and writing down his many statements that make for excellent quotes. The prayers he includes at the end of each chapter are worth writing down and including in ones regular prayer time.

Godâ€™s Pursuit of Man is A.W. Tozerâ€™s extraordinary prequel to his more famously known Pursuit of God: The Human Thirst For the Divine. In this book he aims to explain what it truly means to know God, as well as to be fully known by Him. The author so masterfully explains that, though humans are commanded to seek God, their ability to do so is quintessentially rooted in His relentless pursuit of them. From my own experience, it is quite worth it.When it comes to more surface level details, the book is up to snuff. It arrived at my house in perfect condition only two days after I made the purchase. The cover is made out of thick paper with an almost rubbery texture. Even though it is a small book, it has a very sturdy feel to it. The front cover displays the title and author very clearly for the reader to see, and the back cover contains a well-written summary from a prestigious publishing company, Moody Publishers.Overall, I am extremely impressed by this book! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to be challenged in their faith. Its timeless truths make it a book which can be easily turned to time and time again for guidance in life. I tried to help them in their early inclination to become sailors again after many years of being sailboat less. I was initially concerned that their plan to go cruising right away might be just a little to ambitious..boy was i wrong. They found their boat, planned their trip and were gone post hast. Both David's and Mary's zest for adventure, new challenges aboard an unfirmiliar sailboat, and yen to lean was parlayed into a unique and exciting adventure. Their book is one of the best you could read as a novice cruiser or an experienced seaman. David's description of their journey was exhilarating and profound. His prose is wonderful and his poetry is easy and joyous. Mary's love of sailing aboard Apsara, enjoying wonderful cuisine, and just meeting new people makes you want to do the same. This book is a primer for anyone going to explore the Exumas. The nature, the isolation, the vistas, the seafood, and the history is all there.. Bob Fleege

I bought the book because of a sail charter in the Exumas, but did not find it all that helpful for that. It was a reasonable account of a life transition from normal shore based to s cruising life.

The science lab catches on fire and the whole town comes together to figure out who started the fire.A SAR dog is sick with possible poisoning and a boy has gone missing and they need a dog to go search for him...The mother is now missing...The grandmother is able to use God and examples from the Bible to help her understand about forgiveness and trust in God.Love how all the clues lead to the solution to so many problems...I received this book from Thomas Nelson via Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

In the past, I have read many of Colleen Coble's books. I saw this one aimed at a younger crowd and decided to give it a shot. My daughter read it as well.Having read the Rock Harbor series, I was pleased to see many characters that I had read about in the past including Bree. She is the head of the Search and Rescue team in Rock Harbor and influences Emily, Naomi's stepdaughter. Since this book is aimed for the younger crowd, it made sense to make it about Emily and a great choice.Emily is 14 and loves to create jewelry. Since being rescued in the forest by Bree's dog, Samson, she has also been wanting to have a puppy of her own to train for SAR. She helps out Naomi from time to time and feels like she's ready. After her parents tell her she can have the puppy she desires once she has the money, she decides to sell some of her jewelry pieces at a festival. While watching a neighboring booth for a while, one of the lady's more expensive pieces goes missing and it seems like most everyone is ready to blame Emily. Even her own father doubts her innocence and forces her to hand over her puppy money to the lady.Poor Emily has so much to deal with. Her birth mother is due to get out of prison early, everyone thinks she is a thief, and her former best friend is being mean to her every chance she gets. Emily is determined to prove her innocence, but she only has limited time to get together the money before the puppy is scheduled to be sold. It's up to her and her best friend, Olivia, to find the true culprit.I think this was a good read and I enjoyed it. It had me guessing as to the motive and how Emily would be able to find the culprit and clear her name. It is listed as ages 8 and up, but as the mother of a 9 and almost 11-year-old, I would up that to at least 10 years old. I base that on the length and the depth of the writing. Overall, I was glad I read it and look forward to reading the next one, Rock Harbor Search and Rescue: Lost and Found, which is due out October 8. Good Book!My daughter's opinion: " I really liked this book. I was on the edge of my seat or area the whole time. I read it before my mom so HA! PEACE!"

This was a great follow up book to the adult Rock Harbor series by Colleen Coble. It was great to read about everyone's favorite rescue dog, Samson! This book though, was very much written for younger readers. I am pretty sure I am way over the age that this book was written for, but I still enjoyed it! This is the story of Emily and her best friend Olivia. Someone's expensive homemade necklace was stolen during the Rock Harbor Fall Festival, and it happened while Emily and Olivia were in charge. Emily is accused of stealing it and no one seems to believe she didn't do it so she decides to launch her own investigation. Meanwhile she is trying to save money to buy her own puppy, one of Samson's, who she hopes to train to be a search and rescue dog. This story kept my attention and I loved revisiting some of my favorite beloved Rock Harbor characters!

Colleen Coble weaves a new story about search and rescue dogs in the UP of Michigan. Emily O'Reilly, daighter of Naomi, longs for a dog of her own and helps her mother wHe her dog Charley is recruited to find a missing person. In her efforts to raise the money to purchase one of Bree Matthews puppies, Emily is accused of stealing a valuable necklace designed by a local Ojibwa native.Written for younger adults, I found the story intriguing and enjoyed catching up with favorite characters from a previous series. Coble knows her characters and helps readers grow to love them as much as she does.

What an interesting book written from a teenage point of view. I liked the fact that teenagers can get involved with rescue service using the help of special trained dogs. Everyone can learn to rely on the Master, Jesus Christ, to guide us in our daily lives no matter the job!Recommend that this book be read by teenagers...adults can enjoy it too!!

Haven't been disappointed with any of her books.

A most enjoyable and intriguing story. As usual, Coble has several story lines tied together as we turn the pages. I find myself sometimes having to remember God's Word in a situation I feel uncomfortable in.This book I gave a 4 1/2. This book will appeal to most readers.

I love Colleen Coble's books. I have read about 18. They are probably a little more romance than mystery, however the mysteries are still good. Sometimes she has at least one character who spends much to much time trying to tell someone something important. It can get a little weary, but over all I still love these books.

This is a perfect book for teens. I enjoyed it even though I'm way past my teen years. Emily learns more about responsibility than she ever wanted to and solves a mystery in the process. Her dream is to train a search and rescue dog. It was great.

I don't think I've ever left a review before. I'm a 20 year knitter with a bookcase full of knitting books. When I purchase a knitting book, I hope to find 3 patterns that I'll knit. I love EVERY pattern in this book. I want to sell my stash so I can buy the perfect yarn for each pattern and spend the next year knitting each one. While each pattern has a large sizing range, these patterns make me want to lose weight so the finished items will be even more flattering! Obviously, I highly recommend this book - there are lots of pictures of each item from different angles and the patterns and charts are well thought out - Bravo!

My wife got this book recently, and as an avid knitter she reads absolutely every knitting book that is published. She's admired Jennifer Wood for a LONG time and this book is exciting to see. The patterns here are simply amazing and she's now working on her first project from the book. What follows is a review based largely on what she thinks of this book, but I've added a few points as I also really admire the book.First, a bit of background on Jennifer Wood who runs Wood House Knits. She has been designing since 2011 -- many of her patterns are on Ravelry. (Note that there is a group on Ravelry for the book. I love this as it tends to be a good place to get help. You can even see pictures of the objects in this book on Ravelry, which is great. I'm guessing that as time goes on, many will post variations of these patterns.) 'She also includes really clear diagrams with measurements, which is something I like: in her patterns she goes from 33" bust to 54-and-1/4" bust circumference. We're sure experienced could go beyond her sizes and modify these patterns. She covers cardigans and pullovers, shawls, and other accessories (cowls, mittens, a hat). As I said, the sweaters are all top-down.âœ”' Any Critiques? 'The photos and/or modeling of the objects looks a little bit dated. We're not saying the actual knit wear is dated, just the photos and modeling. It almost looks like it could be from the 1980s at some times. This is not a critique of the knits, just some of the art direction.Overall, we'd say that this is one of the more exciting recent knitting books. Mixing lace and cable in this book is really beautiful, and Wood really takes that up a notch in this pattern.

The book is beautifully photographed and laid out. Care has been taken in the production and it shows up as quality always does.I am knitting the pattern called Victoria and it's complicated and simple at the same time. Her explanations are very clear and that helps. The designs are outstanding. Not too far out, but they are definitely stand outs, if that makes sense. Her section on knitting techniques is one of the best short courses I have seen in a pattern book. In short, well worth the money.(and I am tough on knitting books....see my reviews of other knitting books).

I don't buy hard copies of knitting books very often because I can usually find what I want in a download. I came across this book and had to have it.I wanted to make all but 1 item in this book. The patterns are exquisite, but not hard. I already have the yarn for my first sweater from this book on the spinning wheel.These are also patterns that will stand the test of time as they are elegant, classic pieces that will not go out of fashion. Beautiful book.

I had knit one of Jennifer's other patterns (Evelyn Swing Jacket) prior to receiving this book, it turned out beautifully and I plan on making another one! Everyone that has seen me wearing it immediately wants to know what the pattern is and complements me.I am so impressed both with her pattern writing and with her style. I don't buy pattern books unless I know I will knit at least 50% of the patterns and I will probably make every item in this one at some point. In fact, I already have the yarn to knit 3 of them.I also have to note that Jennifer's pattern support on Ravelry is top-notch. She answers questions within a day or two, sometimes in the same day!

I used to buy knitting books galore, but have stopped doing that in the past few years because they tend to take up a lot of space and I decided I needed to clarify why I would need to buy a book, especially considering there are so many now also available electronically. I now will only buy a hard copy book if there are sufficient patterns that I will likely make, some more than once. This is one of those books. The preview gives a reasonable review of what's inside. I am particularly pleased with the lovely variety of feminine sweaters that are both modern and classic. I envision myself gifting quite a few of the sweaters from this book.

This is not only one of those "eye candy" books but also contains patterns and photos for stunning designs as well. I'm about 1/2 way through the shawl on the cover, Anwen, and am loving it. The directions (on this pattern) are very clear. I am not an advanced knitter but find, as I proceed row by row, this is not only doable but relatively simple, if you use markers. I plan to knit other patterns in this beautiful book. I highly recommend "Refined Knits" if you enjoy lace knitting...or even if you don't!

This is a pretty inspirational book. Beautiful projects and photography. I met the author and got to see some of the finished garments at Rhinebeck NY sheep and wool festival in 2016, and holy cow.....these projects are even more stunning in real life. I liked the book to begin with but now I really appreciate the art and creativity that went into these projects. I have not knit any patterns yet so I can't comment on that.

The book was typical Grisham in that it was easy-to-read and easy to follow. The juxtaposition of the Bolivian jungles and American courtrooms was well done.The only problem I had was the fact that there was nobody to really like in this book. The old geezer who died was a schmuck. His kids are morons. His Grandchildrens are ingrates and slugs. His attorney is a decent guy but he'sâ€¦ An attorney.The hero of the story, if that's what he is, is a drunk. Two wives two divorces four kids and not many redeeming qualities.The woman in the jungle was a good person but she turns it down $11 billion.The book dragged a bit in the first sequence in the jungle. More information than I needed. But the pace picked up nicely in the final third of the book.Enjoyable.

This is not your usual John Grisham novel, even though ti involves a surprise bequest, and the search for the "lost" recipient, with opposition from people who thought they would inherit the very large estate. The main character searches through wet, alligator-infested swamp land to find a young woman who does not want to be found. Tantalizing tales about why this situation exists make it all hang together. It's the setting that makes this a very interesting, readable book. I recommend it!

Somehow I've never noticed this novel and so I bought it and literally couldn't put it down. Grisham takes the reader to a new level of suspense in settling an estate involving ruthless family members, lawyers and a burned out alcoholic protagonist that will break and lift your heart and leave you with new levels of understanding and hope for this devastating disease. The backdrop is in the rain forest of south america and you will absolutely feel like you are there experiencing his life changing experience. Grisham takes on a new way of involving the reader in religion with a missionary in the remotest region of the rain forest. She will leave you understanding the true meaning of "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" with her method of spreading God's true words of love and Empathy. Five stars for certain *****

This is the best book ever. I immediately shared it with my brother & his wife as my brother had been to the exact same places our hero went on down the Amazon River. My brother even contracted the same disease as our hero, and almost died also. This book is so good that I buy used copies & send them to soldiers overseas as it is a book that is so intriguing & entertaining, as well as character development. The Painted House & The Last Juror as also my favorites by Grisham. I send those overseas also. Grisham is the best writer in America.

The odd man out among John Grisham's adult legal thrillers, yet for all that one of my favorites. An idiosyncratic Virginia billionaire dies, leaving a handmade (holographic) will that bypasses his heirs and settles his considerable estate on a young Brazilian missionary. Not set in the American South but in the "Pantanal" region of Central Brazil, which is a kind of seasonally flooded wetland, not a jungle. I enjoyed the change of scene despite, at times, the fact that Grisham was obviously including "travelogue" material for the benefit of the ignorant like me. The new paperback keeps this novel alive and affordable.

One of Grisham's older books that I hadn't read, but what a good one. This is the the story of a billionaire who dies and leaves $11 behind and there is a mysterious illegitimate daughter to be found that no one has ever heard of. Of course, the greedy family doesn't want to share any of the money, but they have to find her in the deep hallows od South America as a missionary. Certainly, a page turner. Enjoy!! ðŸ˜Š

I always find John Grisham's books among my favorites. The plots are always new and he is a master at describing his characters and their circumstances. I find all of Grisham's books entertaining and interesting reads.

Grisham is always a good read and I've read many of his books. I was surprised I had somehow missed this one, which I'm very happy I corrected. Next to The Firm, this is my fave Grisham book. It's an amazing adventure and a very good story. Grisham gets you out of the courtroom and into incredibly exotic and dramatic locals where you are holding your breath to see what will happen. I was happy to be reading this in my cozy bed as all kinds of things were creeping and crawling across the pages.Characters are as always w/Grisham so deftly written. Grisham is a master at never over writing, and yet with a sure pen he sketches out his people and makes you feel you know them.This is a spectacular read. After I finished it I passed it on to hubby, and he hardly talked to me for 2 days as his nose was in this book and wouldn't come out.

Charles A. If you've ever heard Dr. Archer speak, you know she is a unique, dynamic presenter. This book has her voice all through it. She "cuts the fluff and teaches the stuff" in an easy to use, straightforward manner. I use this book often when I am working with teachers who need quality strategies for their teacher toolbox. Highly recommend this book to all educators.

This was a rental for a grad level class. I loved this book because it teaches teachers how to teach in a scientific-proven way. It changed my perspective on teacher and how to teach.

I love Anita Archer. This book is a great resource for teachers at all levels. It provides step-by-step instructional techniques that can and should be implemented at all levels!

Only textbook I purchased with my own funds and could not finish. Information is probably good but not presented in an interesting way

This is an excellent book for any teacher wanting to learn more about strategies you can take, specific strategies, for various areas of instruction. There are very clear directions. This book is designed for a special education teacher and will be something I use a lot in my practice. Each strategy area is very clearly outlined . Excellent tool.
