This is a wonderful story about fate. The book gives a lesson that we always can change our way of life and find the "right" person. The example of Ivy and Zane shows us that everything is possible. Everyone has ups and downs, but giving up is not the way out! Sometimes you should do something unusual and it gives you the new acquaintances and happiness!

I loved the story line and characters the story flowed smoothly and before you know it BAM it was over Berg was foul ! I always enjoy Candi pen game can't wait for the next project.Magnificent job Candi

She did it again. This was a great read from start to finish. I almost did t want it to end. As always awesome story.

This book was so good and I couldn't put it down. Enjoyed the storyline and these characters. Really like Zane and Ivy relationship and how it blossomed. They had each other's back....they were made for each other. Xavier, got exactly what he deserved. Berg, really surprised me all cause he loved someone who never knew he felt that way. Totally didn't see Sunjai and Tangie, glad they found happiness and love. Highly recommend this book. Good job Candi B.

Candi you did the darn thing with this book. It was so good. I loved it from beginning to end. I loved Ivy and Zane together. I hate to see this story end...Berg and X got exactly what they deserved...Berg lost everything behind jealously...Sunjai mom and grandma was so funny...Timeka was so dumb...This is most definitely a must read...I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed if you read it...

It’s a Candi B book what do you expect 😻.. This book was so cute.. I would love for a spin off of Ivy’s and Zane’s wedding or birth of their child.. either way this was a great read.. Berg was so wrong and still is wrong 🙄...

Ivy was indeed the peacemaker. She was the calm to Zane's storm. Even tho she was played by Xavier and Sharaya she didn't let it interfere with her happiness. Berg had nothing but envy and hatred toward Zane. All because a woman who didn't want him. He found out the hard way and now he's suffering. Tangie and Sunjai shocked everyone. Zane is doing big things and couldn't be more happier

This was a good book...Ivy was a great character because it showed how much growth she had...Ivy and Zane are such a great couple that they just compliment each other. I wonder if there is going to be a spin-off for Sanjai and Tangie and to also get a look at Ivy and Zane months/years after the marriage...also want to see how Berg and Timeka fared with each other. Highly recommend!!

Overall a great book that enabled me to easily understand the basics of getting a physics engine off the ground. Obviously the physics engine you end up with will be no Source or CryEngine, but it will be enough to produce an indie game. One thing I love about this author is he focuses on code rather than math. This book isn't a college course in physics, it's all about applying the most important laws of physics for simulations in games and it's all about code. Overall, I was satisfied with the physics engine I got out of it. The one thing I will say to potential buyers is that this is NOT the only book you will need if you want to make a physics engine. You will also need a book on collision detection, bounding volume construction, and spacial partitioning algorithms. This book gives a brief overview, but it only touches the surface. I would recommend "Real Time collision detection" by Ericson and "Mathematics for 3D game programming" by Lengyel as supplemental references.

Great book to teach students that decided to study Game development, in particular is the basis for those that will choose serious gaming. It is important to have first some basic general physics course as well as some on calculus and geometry, that will help in speeding up the learning. For me is one of the two books that are suitable for teaching at this level.

This book is the complement to the Eberly's book Game Physics. This will take you through the basics of creating a game engine from the bottom to the top. It predominately focuses on the code aspects of creating a game engine; however, there is a very gentle walkthrough of mathematical concepts necessary to create the code. The material presented is not terse at all; but does require some level of mathematical maturity (some calculus and linear algebra would be helpful; but the author assumes basic algebra and trig). Wikipedia will be your friend if you don't understand the concepts. Overall, the book will leave you with a working physics engine that you can use for future development.

Let's first say that I've seen my fair share of physics literature. I've pored over papers, tutorials, etc. with little to show beyond some simple collisions between spheres. What I really wanted to implement was something ideally "not" much more difficult: a rigid body simulation with simple primitives (spheres, boxes, planes) that collide and interact with each other, giving a realistic enough feel to build a game around.Unfortunately, even this idea is extremely complex and difficult to implement. You would think the math and code would be fairly easy, and it actually is (depending on your math background. A few semesters of college calculus and physics is very helpful, but not required). But programming a physics engine is 40% math and physics and 60% being clever enough to get the computer to do what you want. Floating point errors, inaccuracies in integration and bugs you can't even imagine from the start all mess with your beautiful equations.And this is where the author, Ian Millington, saves the day with this great book. All throughout, he lays down the challenges of building a physics engine and gives you realistic solutions that are explained very well. You build from the ground up: from a simple particle engine, to a mass aggregate physics engine, all the way to a full blown physics engine. Each chapter he describes what algorithms you need to implement and variations on those algorithms, providing pros and cons for each. I cannot TELL you how fantastic it feels to have an author tell you in an honest tone: here's where this works, here's where it doesn't. Never at any time do you feel that things are being hid behind a curtain of intellect and egomania. And if the author does hide any details, he tells you and with good reason.In the end, if you plow through all 20 chapters with diligence and fortitude, you're going to end up with a working physics engine. It will be a physics engine capable of a lot of very cool things, but it isn't a finished product. And the author makes it very clear throughout the book that you will not end up with a spit polished physics engine to compete with the likes of Havok. It will be rough on the edges with plenty of room for improvement, but it gets the job done. The author helps you create a working model and leaves you with many options on how to improvement. However, those options require much more advanced coding.This book provided me with exactly what I was looking for: the know-how and experience to create a physics engine for the everyday game designer. I highly recommend it. If you want to create something commercial, this is a great start, but you're going to have to buy some heavier books on top of this one if you want a very robust, optimized engine.

However, it may feel a bit slow if you have a physics background, as this is intended at a more introductory level. The author hints at more advanced topics, such as alternative collision resolution techniques and optimization techniques, but doesn't go into detail. That said, the book does give a fully working engine, which counts for a lot.Overall a solid foundation, but you may want to supplement with more advanced materials.

All the things needed to build an actual physics engine are very thoroughly and practically explained, step by step.I especially like the way how it progresses from very simple implementations you would intuitively use, showing what you can achieve by using them, pointing to their problems and trying to use different workarounds, then gradually moving to more complex and advanced ones, one complication at the time.Which means it's also entertaining and pretty easy to understand, no matter what your previous experience is - the parts you can skip if you know a lot about any particular subject are clearly marked.The topic gets quite complex, but compared to other books the math is reduced to what you actually need - but with lot of examples and explanations why it's needed, and how you could do it whithout the math (and why it sucks ;-)

About the Author

Chris Anley is a founder and director of NGSSoftware, a security software, consultancy, and research company based in London, England. He is actively involved in vulnerability research and has discovered security flaws in a wide variety of platforms including Microsoft Windows, Oracle, SQL Server, IBM DB2, Sybase ASE, MySQL, and PGP. John Heasman is the Director of Research at NGSSoftware. He is a prolific security researcher and has published many security advisories in enterprise level software. He has a particular interest in rootkits and has authored papers on malware persistence via device firmware and the BIOS. He is also a co-author of The Database Hacker’s Handbook: Defending Database Servers (Wiley 2005). Felix “FX” Linder leads SABRE Labs GmbH, a Berlin-based professional consulting company specializing in security analysis, system design creation, and verification work. Felix looks back at 18 years of programming and over a decade of computer security consulting for enterprise, carrier, and software vendor clients. This experience allows him to rapidly dive into complex systems and evaluate them from a security and robustness point of view, even in atypical scenarios and on arcane platforms. In his spare time, FX works with his friends from the Phenoelit hacking group on different topics, which have included Cisco IOS, SAP, HP printers, and RIM BlackBerry in the past. Gerardo Richarte has been doing reverse engineering and exploit development for more than 15 years non-stop. In the past 10 years he helped build the technical arm of Core Security Technologies, where he works today. This book is no joke. The introduction underplays the prerequisites. SIMPLE PROGRAMMING/ IT CONCEPTS IS NOT ENOUGH!!! You shouldn't buy this book unless you have a background in CS and some practice with the concepts - data structures and algorithms, computer organization/architecture, x86, C language/pointer arithmetic, Compilers/converting C code to assembly.IF YOU DON'T KNOW COMPUTER SCIENCE TURN BACK NOWThis book is a nonstop stream of information relating all of those concepts. And certainly the best one I've ever read.You're not going to get fluff, opinion, editorials, introductions or appendixes for review, NOTHING. Many of the other books in this category, such as "Hacking: The Art of Exploitation" have a lot of reviews clearly by people with no a background in Computer Science claiming those books are too technical. Those books are IT and networking books that have a -- nothing compared to this. The meat of what is in "Hacking: The Art of Exploitation" is covered in the first 5 chapters in this book.

Arrived quicklyShellcoder's handbook and in good condition. Way above my head. This will take awhile to read and longer to understand.

Make no mistake: this book is pretty hard core and, IMHO, not for the beginner.In short I recommend people interested in learning about malware in depth use the following materials:1."Smashing The Stack For Fun And Profit" by Aleph One (aka Elias Levy).This is a masterpiece of some basic vulnerabilities and their exploitation. A good intro to the topic and many folks may wish to stop here.2. "Hacking: The Art of Exploitation", 2nd Ed by Jon EricksonThis moves into some excellent examples that apply the techniques of exploitation. A good way to get some "hands on" experience and put into practice the core ideas of exploitation. Just don't expect this to be geared toward modern exploits and real-world applications in 2016.3. "The Shellcoder's Handbook: Discovering and Exploiting Security Holes" 2nd Ed. This book being reviewed.This book is much more in depth and focuses on real-world exploits. These exploits actually work and are practical in more modern systems. If your goal is to move beyond concepts and simple examples to practical techniques that are useful, this is the book you'll need.I hope this helps..

Book on this topic is rare, and I found this is good enough to rate. If you want to start developing your own exploits and get a shell of your own. This book is a very good start and would be a companion through your journey as penetration tester.

The book is really one of the classics and explains how exploits work and various types of exploit like stack overflow, heap overflow, format string vulnerability. I am at the beginning of the book and I am already finding it quite fascinating. I will edit the review as I read more. If anyone has read 'Smashing the stack for fun and profit' by Aleph1 and has found it interesting, you would definitely love this book. Security researchers generally suggest reading this book. Now I know why. I am giving it 4 stars because I own a Kindle edition of the book and the code that's in the book is not formatted correctly making it hard to read. For example: Chapter 4 writes the 1st example explaining what are format strings. The code and the output of the code isn't formatted very well. Otherwise, the book is really good.Edit: Ok. I just checked this on my Kindle Reader app on my tablet. Apparently, the formatting is correct on it. However, when I read it on the Kindle Cloud Reader, the formatting is not correct. Hope that the publishers/authors see this.

Incredible book but so fat :/

Very in depth and have learned a lot.

I recommend this book for everyone looking to begin their journey into advanced penetration testing via writing their own exploits. It is a little dated, though still provides a solid foundation. This is a classic in its own time and a must-read for every info sec professional, or those simply curious about getting into the field. It encourages writing your own tools rather than relying on 3rd party tools. Nothing wrong with the latter, though it is good to know how to code your own exploits. This is a great first step to becoming a Metasploit contributor or creating your own collection of 0days.
